The project was a complete transformation: render repairs, timber repairs to rotten sections, gutter replacement through our trusted trade partners, and a full colour change that brought the character of this classic home back to life. Kingswood is one of Adelaide's most loved character suburbs, and its streets are lined with the bungalows of the 1920s solid homes with generous verandahs, masonry piers, rendered and face-brick façades, and timber detailing that gives each one its own personality. This home is a classic of the era. Like many bungalows approaching their century, though, time had caught up with it: the render was showing its age, sections of external timber had rotted, and the existing colour scheme no longer did the home justice.
Repairing before painting: A great paint job on a period home starts long before the paint. Cracked and drummy render and rotten external timbers had to be properly repaired first paint over failing substrates and the finish fails with them, no matter how good the products are.

The new scheme had to suit the bungalow's era and streetscape, and achieving clean, uniform coverage over a different existing colour takes disciplined preparation and coat control.
Coordinating multiple trades: With render repairs, carpentry and gutter replacement all part of the program, the trades had to run in the right order repairs and gutters complete before final coats, so the home was finished once, properly, with no rework.
Thorough render and timber repairs: All defective render was cut out and repaired to a sound, uniform surface, and rotten timber sections were repaired or replaced to match the original profiles preserving the home's period detail rather than papering over problems.
Gutter replacement with trusted trade partners: Working with our regular trade partners, the home's guttering was replaced as part of the program protecting the fresh paintwork and the repaired fabric beneath it from water damage, and completing the exterior refresh from roofline to ground.
A complete colour transformation: We delivered a full colour change across the exterior, with a scheme selected to honour the bungalow's 1920s character while giving it a fresh, contemporary presence on the street. Premium exterior systems were applied over properly prepared surfaces for a deep, uniform finish built to last.
